Inspired by the curved lines on a topographic map, I apply a flexible tape to the piece before applying glaze, once the glaze has dried the tape is removed to reveal the design. The piece is then fired up to 1250c. The pattern highlights the beautiful contrast between glaze and bare clay on the outside, while the inside is fully glazed. I freehand each design so, although similar and equally beautiful, each piece will be a unique, one of a kind artwork.
Stormy Blue is a beautiful variegated glaze that ranges from dark blue through to a light denim colour with hints of rusty brown. You will also notice the speckled buff clay takes on a toasted orange hue where the glaze meets the clay, known as flashing. This is a result of a reaction between elements in the clay and glaze during the firing process and it makes for a beautiful contrast with the blue tones in the glaze

*the pictures for this listing are examples only, the piece you receive will be just as beautiful and I aim to make my pieces as close in shape, size and colour as possible, however, the patterns will all be unique
